We previously ran this story from Animal Radio, but it’s worth mentioning again to our blog readers.
A 12 year old from Bend, OR named Mimi Ausland has started up websites akin to the freerice.com games. Freekibble.com and freekibblekat.com both cater to pet lovers by offering daily trivia to each visitor, upon answering a question ten or twenty pieces of kibble are donated to a stash that helps feed shelter pets across the nation.
The websites, originally started to assist the Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) have since expanded to donate dog and cat food to a multitude of shelters. Especially since Ms. Ausland made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in late September.
According to the website October saw 5,852,970 pieces of cat kibble and 6,822,950 pieces of dog kibble—with both showing additional donations of millions more. So this venture has really since taken off.
Go get your handful in today. Visit freekibble.com and freekibblekat.com, answer some trivia, and fill the bowl of a needy shelter pet today.
